NEW INDIA PLEDGE 2017- CEREMONY

Date: 09.08.2017

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) celebrate the 75^th year of “Quit India Movement” and 70^th year of Indian Independence. In commemoration of the great events and sacrifice of our devoted freedom fighters and the vision of our Honorable Prime Minister to have a terrorism- free, caste- free, corruption- free, uncleanness- free, and poverty- free society, a pledge taking ceremony has been organized by MHRD and AICTE.

 Accordingly, “New India Pledge 2017 taking ceremony” has been organized on the 9^th of August 2017 at 9.30 a.m. in GCE, Dharmapuri for commemorating the above events and taking a pledge. The Principal of GCE, Dharmapuri presided over the ceremony. All HODs, faculty members, non- teaching staff members and around 800 students participated in the event.

New India Pledge 2017 which includes the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister was taken by all. As it is said “Every Initiation becomes a Mission”, this event induced the young minds to march towards India’s vision and make it a real one. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks.

FRESHERS’ DAY celebration                                                                                                                                                              01.09.2017

Government College of Engineering organized a fresher’s day programme on the first of September, 2017, to welcome the first year students of all branches. The meeting was organized under guidance and president ship of the Principal, Dr. P.Thamarai.

The Heads of all the departments, the faculties of all branches, administrative staff members and the parents of first year students attended the meet.

The main purpose of this meet was to let the students and parents know the scope of Engineering programmes, provisions provided by the Government to the Engineering students , welfare schemes, availability of the Faculties and facilities(Infrastructure, Labs, Hostels).

The agenda of the meeting

• Welcome and introductory.
• Presidential address by Dr.P.Thamarai, the Principal.
• Briefed the inception, growth and development of the institution. Besides Academic, this institution presently aims at offering GATE coaching, UPSC- IES coaching, ICT Academy-skill development-soft skills etc-She added.
• Special address by Dr.K.Boopathy, The Chief Faculty Advisor and the Head of the department of Physics.
• Introduced the Heads of Science and Humanities.
• Felicitation by the Heads of all the departments.
• Felicitation by P.A to Principal
• Provided information about various student oriented activities and schemes.
• Vote of thanks.

UPSC Civil Services – Engineering Services Examinations – IES Coaching

An announcement was made by the Honorable then Chief Minister on 23.08.2016 in Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly under Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly rule 110 regarding the establishment of study centre for Indian Engineering Services Examinations.

We are pleased to inform you that Government College of Engineering, Dharmapuri has been nominated as one of the Institutions for establishing study centre for Indian Engineering Services (IES) examinations conducted by UPSC.

It is really a boon for the students studying Pre- final year (3rd year) Engineering in Government, Government Aided Colleges and Anna University Colleges nearby Dharmapuri.  240 students from various disciplines will get benefitted.  

Indian Engineering Services: A Scope

Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) conducts a competitive examination for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services. Indian Engineering Services (IES) are the Civil Services that meet the technical and management functions of the government.

Maximum number of students and category:

The maximum number of students per category is 60 only.

Selection Procedure:

• Purely merit basis
• Pre- final year students are the target group
• Based on the performance (marks) in their third and fourth semester
• Based on Tamilnadu Government Communal Reservation

Classes:

Classes will be conducted only on weekends/ holidays.

Fee:

No fee will be collected for the programme.
