LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY

‘Literary and Debating society’ is a qualitative addition to improve the language, literary, employability and life skills of the students. The members of LDS started the ball rolling with the inauguration of LDS at 3.30 pm on 26^th September 2017 at APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium in the presence of the Principal, Chief Faculty Advisor, PA to Principal, faculty members of various departments and the first year students.

Mr. Sam Surya, HOD of English Department of Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Yelagiri Hills, was the chief guest of the programme. So many activities like  Poem writing, short story writing, poster making, slogan writing, advertisement making, skit, group discussion, debate, elocution, impromptu speech,  newsletter writing, news reporting, article writing, and role play are planned to be conducted in the following meetings in the form of competitions. The best works of the participants will be awarded, compiled and published in the college magazine and also be uploaded in the college website.

Observance of Legal Services Day 2017

Legal Literacy Camp on 15.11.17 at GCE, Dharmapuri

As per the directions of The Supreme Court, Legal services day is celebrated every year on 9^th November in all state authorities. The aim of celebrating the legal services day across India is to offer the free of charge, proficient and legal services to the poor, deprived, disadvantaged, underprivileged, differently abled persons, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe as well as victims, to make them aware about the legal systems. The Government organizes Awareness programs, Campaigns, legal literacy camps, Rallies to let the people know about the basic and fundamental laws and acts especially The Rights and Duties of the Citizen, Human Rights, Child Rights, Right to Information Act, SC/ST rights, Women Rights, Anti-Ragging, Educational loans, Traffic Rules  Etc……

The District Judicial Authority organized a legal literacy camp on 15.11.17 at Government College of Engineering, Dharmapuri to throw a light on the above mentioned aspects to the students. The Principal, PA to Principal, Heads of the Department, Faculties, Administrative Staff members and Students  attended.

Thiru K.Mani, Chief Judicial Magistrate,Dharmapuri and Thiru.M.Jeevanantham, Additional Principal Judge, Dharmapuri were the chief guests and addressed the Audience.

Dr.P.Thamarai, The Principal of this institution gave an introductory note and invited the guests to deliver their key note address.

Snake and Human Conflict Awareness Programme

In our College the Forest Department conducted awareness programme on "Snake and Human Conflict" as part of National Science Day (28/02/2018) on 01/03/2018 at 10a.m. at Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam Auditorium, GCE, Dharmapuri. The Chief Guest of this programme was Mr.M.Harimani from Railways.

The main objective of this programme is to create awareness among students to save snakes life and how to safeguard ourselves. He has explained the different varities of snakes and its nature.

This programme was presided over by Dr.P.Thamarai, The Principal, GCE, Dharmapuri. The HODs, All Faculty members of all the departments and students from all the branches have attended.
